About Us

SAT ACRENA commenced its business as a result of the initiative of a group of farmers who realised the advantages of forming an association in order to jointly market their produce.
Through this initiative, they achieved greater added value for their produce, and created well-being in the zone as a result of requiring a significant amount of labour in the selection, classification, standardisation and marketing of farm produce.
Starting with just 10 partners, there are now over 200 members that market their produce through SAT ACRENA.
The following are some of SAT ACRENA’s objectives, in accordance with the new C.M.O.:

- To promote concentration of offer and price regulation during the marketing phase.
- To offer member producers appropriate technical resources for standardising and marketing their products.
- To conserve, produce, transform, distribute and sell our members’ products on all national and international markets.
- To promote environmentally-friendly farming, production techniques and waste management, in order to protect quality of water, soil and the land, at the same time as strengthening and conserving biodiversity.

We comply with EU Regulations 1035/72 of 18 May and 2200/96 of 28 October, and R(CE)1234/07 of 22 Oct ,by virtue of which we are recognised as a Producer Organisation of Fruit and Vegetables (O.P.F.H in Spanish), number 479, within the category of “Fruit and Vegetable Produce”.
We have been classified as “Exceptional Operator” by the Official Department of Inspection, Vigilance and Regulation of Exports (SOIVRE), with number 46.
Our production has been awarded AENOR certification UNE 155000:2008,155000:2009,GLOBALGAP (EUREPGAP) IFA V3.1 including protocol standards EUREPGAP and BRC.

We have our own seed nursery, where our members plant the seeds, and then transplant the seedlings to their greenhouses.
We also have our own farm with a surface area of 5 hectares, where we grow cucumbers and water melons.
Geographically we cover all the municipalities in Almeria Province.
