-Category I:
The aubergines look clean, fresh, well-shaped, tender.
They have the intense colour that is typical of the variety and are shiny. They do not have excessive seeds.
-Category II:
The following is permitted:
· Minor defects in colour and shape but no defects in consistency.
· Minor epidermal defects, such as:
- Healed scars, slight marks from knocks or scrapes
- Some insect remains.
- Slightly dirty calyx, or burnt from a treatment or by the sun.
